The Santa Barbara County Probation Department is excited to join a team of trauma informed community partners dedicated to resiliency and collaboration. In our commitment to improve the ways in which we serve our youth and families, we recently implemented the Positive Achievement Change Tool (PACT). The PACT screens for ACEs in addition to assessing a youth’s risk to reoffend and criminogenic needs. This, along with training around the latest research on the adolescent brain and ACEs science, has improved our department’s understanding of trauma’s connection to criminal justice. We continue to improve our approach to becoming a trauma-informed and resiliency-focused agency in order to better serve the larger Santa Barbara community and Resilient SBC ACEs Connection Network. The Santa Barbara County Probation Department looks forward to not only growing in its capacity as a community partner but also serving as a strong point of collaboration to other agencies in our collective effort toward resilience.
We work collectively to educate our community about ACEs, resilience, and trauma-informed care. We exchange ideas, share opportunities and foster connections to transform lives through practical and community-centered solutions.
