In September 2020, School Health Clinics "expanded behavioral health services, with providers from Uplift Family Services embedded directly into our clinics so that patients have better access to mental health care. It took a lot of behind the scenes effort to get this project off the ground, but boy was it worth it! We’re already making great strides in identifying patients who could benefit from mental health services. In the month of September alone:
- 245 patients were screened for depression
- 118 patients were screened for tobacco, alcohol, or drug use
- 74 patients were screened for trauma
- 47 patients were screened for anxiety
- 48 patients were screened for suicidal/homicidal risk
- 8 patients were screened for youth mental health symptoms
Our goal is to screen 1,000 patients by the end of April 2021 - clearly a target we are on track to meet. This is a big deal! With an estimated 1 in 6 Californian’s reporting some type of mental illness, identifying and providing treatment is critical. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting work."
