Wow, what a full and informative meeting we had last month. Thank you to all those that was able to attend. All voices are valued and need to be heard. Everyone has a seat at our table
Our meeting started out with introductions from over 20 community members in attendance.
Ellen Barnett of Imagine YOU shared a mindful moment with the group and guided us through a powerful "What Matters Most" technique.
SCAC partnered with Sonoma First 5, Dovetail Learning, Early Learning Institute, Children's Trust Fund Alliance, Santa Rosa Junior College, Project Whole Child, and Parent Voices Sonoma to recognize parents in our community for National Parent Leadership Month. A certificate was made in English and Spanish and mailed to the recognized parents, along with local resources that buffer toxic stress. This effort was made to focus on what is strong with families rather than what is wrong, to reframe parental experiences in a way that aligns with aces science and the California Surgeon General's "Roadmap to Resilience". Parent voices are a vital lens that must be seen and appreciated. Is this something SCAC would like to continue to offer our communities parents?
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month-how can SCAC leverage opportunities to partner and bring public awareness to decrease aces?
Sarah Rock with Sonoma Connect shared about this new collaborative grant aimed at building a robust network of care to effectively respond to ACEs and toxic stress to meet the needs of children, adults, and families.
We ran out of time to discuss the other agenda items and have tabled them for this months meeting on March 25th.
