Elizabeth gave an update on "Celebrating Parents as Heroes" event. There were over 200 in attendance. 150 parents nominated, some had to cancel last minute due to illness. Their certificates will be mailed. Elizabeth shared what the certificates will look like. She coordinated over 25 organizations to support, many came to table at the event. There was a raffle table. The Living Room provided a delicious pasta meal prepared by a well known chef they recently hired. Every parent was given a hug by the committee, a blue iris, a certificate, and a blue pinwheel. Elizabeth hired a photographer and she will be paying the Peacetown video team to make a video. Parents really enjoyed the event with their families and have access to local resources. Elizabeth shared the most special moment for her was seeing a single father she knew had lived experiences and could be difficult to interact with. She nominated him anonymously. He showed up with a new outfit from Goodwill, a fresh haircut and shave. He had many friends and family as well as his children present. He shared that this was his first time ever being told he was doing a good job as a parent. Plans to expand for next year. Elizabeth did secure funding and was transparent about where the funding was going-to cover expense of event and to compensate her time. When she invoiced the fiscal agent they denied compensating her time as it was not approved by the board.
Sandra shared that the Vinters grant to provide PACEs/Resilience presentations to West County Schools was approved. Will be a project with SCPC and Dovetail Learning. Planning meetings with the schools has begun. Presentations to be in the fall.
Dana shared that the county approved the ARPA proposal. SCPC was one of 11 partners that collaboratively applied. Update soon.
Elizabeth shared that she has brought the Blue Dot project to Sonoma County. She bought a wooden circle painted it the appropriate color and bought a white chalk pen to visit local organizations to let them participate. She shared that she had fun going to the Sebastopol Police Department and having them participate. She also took the Blue Dot to a Lifeworks fundraiser.
