Presentation: PACES Presentation-
Elizabeth Smith- See slides above
- SCAC has an opportunity to update our name to better reflect the emerging science of POSITIVE childhood experiences changing it from Sonoma County ACEs Connection to Sonoma County PACEs Connection.
- Consider changing the “About our Community” description on: https://www.pacesconnection.co...unty-aces-connection from “We bring the community together to prevent, heal, and treat ACEs while promoting resilience” and adding Positive Childhood Experiences to the description.
- Brains: Journey to Resilience
- Both PCEs and ACEs matter- and both have dose-response associations! Together- with all of our partners, people, parents, and community members- we have the power to embed The Science of Thriving!
After the Presentation the group as a whole had a conversation and voted to move forward with the official change to Sonoma County PACEs Connection. Feedback was that by adding Positive Childhood Experiences our group is moving in the same direction as national movements.
Sonoma Connect/Sonoma Unidos update- Introduced a new member of the SC/SU backbone team, Mariane Raschke. Welcome!
*SC/SU sent out a Community Feedback Survey in August 2021. The next steps are
- Short-term: (1) Consolidate Community Feedback Survey results for review and feedback by Action Team and Operations Teams. (2) Further build backbone & lead agency infrastructure for organizing, sharing, and tracking clear goals and metrics
- Medium-term: Define and implement community-led governance structure and decision-making processes
- Long-term: Sustainability planning

CTIPP Update- Last month the CEO of CTIPP(Campaign for Trauma-Informed Policy & Practice) joined our meeting to educate us on as a group we can be a part. There is opportunity for SCPC to join a Campaign that would connect us with a nationwide grassroots campaign to engage congressional offices and other federal leaders in supporting policies, programs, legislation, and appropriations that prevent and respond to childhood trauma and build resilience. There is also an opportunity for a local campaign liaison, this is for someone who wishes to take a leadership role on behalf of their congressional district or state. A committee will be formed, if you are interested in being a part of a Trauma-Informed Policy & Practice Committee please let Elizabeth know. You can also visit:https://www.ctipp.org/nationaltraumacampaign/
Resilience for ALL Act 2021- The International Transformational Resilience Coalition (ITRC) released a letter to Congress calling for the introduction and enactment of the "Resilience for All Act of 2021." The letter is endorsed by over 80 national, state, and local mental health and human services organizations from across the nation, and by over 240 individual professionals. Sonoma County PACEs Connection was one of them. The "Resilience for All Act of 2021" will, for the first time, make the prevention and healing of mental health and psychosocial problems through community-based, age and culturally-appropriate, population-level initiatives a national priority. It will also establish an Office of Mental Wellness and Resilience in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and a grant program run by the new CDC office to fund community-based mental wellness and resilience building initiatives nationwide. (Was exciting to see one of our partner organizations Dovetail on the endorsement as well)
You can view the Media Release as well as the list of those who endorsed: https://mail.google.com/mail/u...ealattid=f_kvbj9abl0

There is opportunity for SCPC to collaborate and create videos that celebrate our PACEs Champions in the community giving a voice to the organizations doing the work and community with lived experiences.
