Santa Rosa receives nearly $26 million in grant money for housing, transit projects (Press Democrat)

By Chantelle Lee, June 25, 2020, Press Democrat.

Nearly $26 million in state grant money was approved Thursday to fund several projects in Sonoma County, including new affordable housing in Roseland and an extension to the SMART system.

The $25.8 million grant package was awarded to the city of Santa Rosa, SMART and Bay Area affordable housing developer MidPen Housing by the California Strategic Growth Council, a state agency focused on affordable housing and transportation.

The state grant includes $15 million, which will fund the construction of 75 units of affordable housing at MidPen’s Roseland Village development on county-owned land on Sebastopol Road. The total estimated cost of the project is $65 million. The project will also include some market-rate housing.

Thanks for the information. The number of cities, counties and counties with plans to build affordable housing is still growing, more and more people are being displaced or out of their homes, often at extreme cost to families and the economy. In many large American cities, such a displacement seems inevitable. In cities where zoning rules don't apply to affordable housing units, at least 1 in 5 renters are a part-time employed or on a part-time student job, making housing insecurity far more likely. Other factors that have impacted the impact of housing displacement include: overcrowding or shortages of social housing; lack of job opportunities and adequate health care access; and long-term unemployment. I just applied for a loan app with fast approval, and the lenders I've worked with in the past responded well, so I'm confident in their dependability. I'm only willing to take out a loan in these circumstances.

Such financing is necessary. After all, this grant will go to a common and very important cause. The construction of affordable housing is always relevant for many people. I understand how important this is because I faced some problems when applying for a loan for housing. I have a bad experience with this. Now I prefer not to take out a loan, and if there is a very urgent need, then I choose only trusted sources. I recently completed an application for payday loans online in Alabama and received a positive response from the lenders I have dealt with in the past, and I'm confident in their reliability. Only in such cases am I ready to take out a loan.
