SOCO RISES UPDATES...

Summit Video is now available!

 

If you happened to miss the excellent speakers and discussion that occurred at our Summit on Equity, Recovery, & Resilience, or would like to refer back to some of the advice and experience shared by our guests, a full recording is now available on the Summit website. Choose from one speaker's presentation, the question & answer panel, or the entire summit. You can also view the results from the audience participation activities done at the Summit, and the full slideshows shared from each presenter.

Soco Rises Surveys Results are In!

 
We are pleased to release our report detailing the findings of the large scale Community Outreach Survey SoCo Rises conducted in March, five months after the October 2017 wildfires. A total of 2,376 Sonoma County residents took the online survey, which probed attitudes about recovery and rebuilding. The report has been presented to Sonoma County decision-makers, and serves as a call to action for leaders to boldly place equity and community voice at the center of the planning process as recovery efforts continue to move forward.

The report notes that housing and the financial impact of the fires were cited as key issues of concern by at least 90% of survey respondents. The severe lack of affordable housing and overall increasing cost of housing was a consistent concern for lower income respondents and renters. Many respondents called for rent control measures and a cohesive plan for growth.

IN THE COMMUNITY...

Community Listening Sessions

 
At the Summit, over 75% of the audience stated they were willing to attend community meetings on Fire Recovery plans. Now it's time to put words into action!

The County of Sonoma is encouraging residents to participate in Fire Recovery Community Listening Sessions that will gather public input and shape the Recovery and Resiliency Plan that will provide a framework for our County’s future.

At each meeting, County staff will provide a brief overview of the Office of Recovery and Resiliency and the five strategic areas identified by the Board of Supervisors in December 2017. The Office’s mission is to help the County recover from the October 2017 wildfires and emerge better prepared, stronger and more resilient from the disaster.
Spanish translation, California HOPE counselors and child care will be available at all of the forums. Refreshments will be served.

August 8th, 6-8pm, Veterans Building, Santa Rosa

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will be holding a Safety Net Services Recovery Workshop on August 7th, 2018.

Santa Rosa City Surveys- Add your voice!

 

In an effort to better understand the broad economic impacts of the 2017 October wildfires, the City of Santa Rosa is seeking participation in a survey from impacted Santa Rosa-based businesses and Santa Rosa residents who are/were employed by Sonoma County businesses or organizations that were impacted by the fires. Data collected from this survey will be used to identify and pursue solutions to unmet needs through such means as programs, projects and grants. Information collected in this survey is and will remain confidential.
