The Michigan ACEs initiative hosted the largest convening of ACEs professionals in the state of Michigan. Dr. Robert Anda, Co-Principal Investigator of the original ACEs study, Co-Founder ACE Interface and also featured in RESILIENCE, opened the conference and introduced keynote speaker, Christina Bethell, PhD, MBA, MPH, Professor, Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University and Director, Child and Adolescent Health Measurement Initiative in Baltimore, MD, to an audience of over 500 professionals.
Other speakers and presenters included: Phyllis D. Meadows, MSN, PhD, RN, Senior Fellow-Health, Kresge Foundation, Detroit MI, Justin Fast, Senior Consultant , Public Sector Consultants, Lansing, MU and Jodi Spicer, MA Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Consultant, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and Master Trainer, Lansing, MI.
As well, Laura Porter, Principal, ACE Interface, LLC Olympia WA moderated a panel of master trainers including: Rich Van Tol, Bay-Areanac ISD, Great Start Collaborative, Starting Strong (Parents As Teachers) Supervisor and MAAC, Essexville, MI ISD, Jason Gold, MS Retired Police Officer, Community Advocate for Ann Arbor Public Schools and Master Trainer; and Amanda Dubey-Zerka, LMSW, Director, Continuing Education and Clinical Instructor, Michigan State University School of Social Work and MasterTrainer, East Lansing, MI and Teresa Holtrop, MD WCHAO Director, Past President Michigan Chapter American Academy of Pediatrics and Master Trainer, Detroit, MI.
