Maine is moving towards several exciting initiatives related to actively utilizing ACEs in a variety of settings, and in the development of a Maine-focused screening that could be used by multiple sectors that expands the original ACEs 10 questions and also incorporates several focused adversities that would be common to living in rural localities, etc. We are moving slowly - always conscious of "why" would we do this screening, and how would we support people who have unresolved ACEs and are affecting their lives regardless of age. We also want to incorporate some resilience questions so that we uncover the important ways in which people respond to adversity, recognizing some of the more recent work related to the biopsychosocial approach to adversity and resilience. A work in progress!
If you're doing ACEs histories, please do a short blog post or contact one of the community managers so that we can do so for you.
