In 2012, Greater Richmond SCAN and five other community partners hatched a one-year plan to educate the Richmond, Virginia, community about ACEs science and to embed trauma-informed practices. Eight years later, the original group has evolved into the Greater Richmond Trauma-Informed Community Network (GRTICN) with 495 people and 170 organizations. And they're just scratching the surface.

In the United States in 2021, 1 in 6 infants were born to a woman receiving late or no prenatal care (March of Dimes Foundation, 2022). The March of Dimes Foundation also found that on average from 2019 to 2021 9.2% of Black women received late or no prenatal care compared to 4.6% for white women.
