Starting Aug. 20, nearly 50,000 students at select colleges and universities in Ventura County will be able to ride local public-transit buses for free for the next nine months, the traditional academic year.
They’ll be able to do so under the Ventura County Transportation Commission’s “College Easy Ride” pilot program, which will run through May 31. The buses run countywide.
Announced in April, the program will be open to students at the largest and most-attended colleges and universities in the county: the entire Ventura County Community College District with campuses in Moorpark, Oxnard and Ventura, and an auxiliary campus in Santa Paula; CSU Channel Islands; and California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.
