Bus will soon hit streets of Mason County to help those battling substance abuse [KOMO News]

A first-of-its-kind bus will soon hit the streets of Mason County to help those battling substance abuse.

The bus will respond to overdose calls along with firefighters and police. But the bigger focus of the team on board will be on connecting those in crisis to long-term treatment.

The North Mason Regional Fire Authority was awarded a two-year, $500,000 grant from the Department of Justice last October to create a rural Quick Response Team. The 4-person team will be made up of an emergency medical technician (EMT), two care providers and a program manager that will work 40 hours a week and be on-call during off-hours.
