Spectrum Center of Spokane customized this online training for the trauma-informed community and practitioners. This workshop is ideal for human resources, equity and inclusion, compliance, continuing education credits, personal enrichment, and anyone looking for a deeper understanding of the intersections of identity in society.
We will explore language and frameworks for understanding and naming social structures of oppression, processes of socialization, bias, and the intersections of our identities. Using reflection, activities, and scenarios, facilitators will challenge participants to apply this understanding to how identity influences our presence and interpretation of the world. Participants will also spend time in small and large groups analyzing the strengths and challenges of resilience when thinking about culturally diverse and marginalized populations.
Objectives for session:
- Define Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Language (Ex: oppression, bias, intersectionality, white supremacy, socialization, privilege)
- Discuss aspects of identity (race, gender, occupation, education status, etc.)
- Identify own intersecting identities and experiences surrounding them
- Analyze critiques of resiliency in regards to culturally diverse and marginalized populations
