Community invited to join unifying interfaith walk [Davis Enterprise]

It is in the spirit of sharing a common message of love and understanding, which the Celebration of Abraham has fostered for 15 years, that the organization is sponsoring “Living with Religious Diversity: Walking Our Faith and Sharing a Meal” on Sunday, Oct. 22.

During the event, which will run from 4:30 to 8 p.m., participants will walk approximately one mile from Congregation Bet Haverim to the Islamic Center of Davis, then approximately one mile to the United Methodist Church, where a potluck dinner will be held.

“The Celebration of Abraham is offering an occasion to rebuild community and deepen relationships following a summer of challenging conversations,” said Helen Roland, a founding member of Celebration of Abraham and an organizer of the event. “We will walk as a community, hear clergy from each tradition, share a vegetarian meal and engage in interfaith dialogue along the way.”

...  “We will stand shoulder to shoulder with one another, talk with each other and learn from each other, and break bread together. Healing takes place step by step, piece by piece. Our walk celebrates that we are moving forward together in many different ways.”
