August is Child Support Awareness Month, when Yolo County Child Support and local agencies statewide work together to engage parents and raise program awareness. Parents have a stressful job of raising children and often add pressure on themselves to be “the perfect parent.” This year’s theme reminds parents that, “They Don’t Need Perfect, They Just Need You.” Story time before bed, walks to the park, even simple family meals mean the world to kids; and when both parents participate, it means even more.
“It is often the little things in life we remember when thinking about our childhood — pancake breakfast on the weekend, an ice cream cone after practice or playing catch with Mom or Dad after school,” said Yolo County Child Support director Natalie Dillon. “All efforts demonstrate to children they are cared for and loved. Yolo County Child Support is here to help with the legal and financial part of co-parenting, freeing parents to focus on supporting their children and creating positive memories.”
Yolo County Child Support’s mission is to promote the well-being of children and the self-sufficiency of families by assisting both parents in meeting the financial and medical needs of their children through the professional establishment and enforcement of child support orders.
