This ongoing, public class will be held at Kaya Yoga beginning March 30 and continue each Thursday at 12:00-1:00pm (please see the flier attached for more details).
Interoceptive Yoga is a Trauma-Informed Yoga class that takes special considerations around creating a safe space for participants including empowerment-based language, integration of choices and considerations of somatic complaints. Through a series of mindful movements, participants are invited to notice sensation and make choices for themselves based on their experience in that moment. I offer each movement as an invitation, there are variations suggested in each yoga form and there are no hands-on assists.
Instructor Dion Wiedenhoefer has been teaching yoga as a healing modality in group class settings, along-side private practice therapy providers and with individual clients since 2015. She encourages you to investigate the research provided by The Trauma Center at Justice Resource Institute The Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, where she is currently working toward her 300-hour TCTSY certification.
Please feel free to share this information with clients, healing professionals and the general Davis community.
