Invitation To The Award-Winning Cost of Darkness Documentary Virtual Viewing Event

The Culture C.O.-O.P. team, and our Director, Sandy Holman, are delighted to invite you to the full-length viewing of our award-winning documentary, The Cost of Darkness. The Culture C.O.-O.P. works to promote systemic change, inclusion, equity, cultural competency, inclusion, literacy, and a quality education for all.

Our award-winning film will show the first half on Sunday, May 2nd, 2021, from 2:00 PM- 4:30 PM PST (with a built-in intermission) examining color bias in the following American institutions: the education sector, healthcare, and environment. Two additional segments examine white supremacy and being Black in our society. The second half of the documentary viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 12th, from 6 PM - 8 PM PST highlighting politics, economics, criminal justice, and the media.

The Cost of Darkness is designed to create an institutional and historical “mindshare,” so that organizations, communities, and others can develop visions, roadmaps for success, and interventions that address the root causes of inequities.

The documentary summarizes the historical compounded impact of supremacy, ideology, and racism in our institutions. The documentary is a crucial part of a holistic paradigm for transforming individuals, communities, systems, and beyond.

We are all an essential part of laying the foundation for change. Join us on Sunday, May 2nd, 2021 from 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM, and Wednesday, May 12th, 2021 from 6 PM - 8 PM PST to make your visioning, strategies, interventions, and policymaking, more holistic and impactful.

“We can’t keep doing things in piecemeal, fragmented, and crisis-driven ways, and expect anything to change in our country and world. Our approaches must be based on at least a basic understanding of the historical concepts of Caste, Supremacy Ideology, Genocide, Chattel Slavery, inequity, injustice and oppression, in general, and how they create what I call a “Compounded Institutional Impact.” This knowledge will change how we come up with solutions, policies, interventions and overall strategies, giving us a greater chance of systemic shifts/ overhaul, in our institutions, and society in general. Understanding these dynamic plants seeds for real change and how we approach our work in general…”

“The Documentary, along with seven other key components are parts of a paradigm for transforming individuals, communities, systems and beyond.”
