Maria's Cantina, Woodland.
Attending: Shaunda Cruz, Tracy Fauver, Karleen Jakowski, Susan Jones, Andrea Ransdell, Jane Stevens, Anna Sutton, Michele Threlkel.
Following on the success of the four half-day workshops over two days in February that attracted 200 people, and the child abuse conference attended by about 100 in April, we talked over the next steps in our goal to make Yolo County the first trauma-informed/resilience-building county in California. We decided on these:
-- Combine our lists of organizations and contacts (Anna, Karleen, Tracy, Shaunda)
-- Identify sectors or people not on the list (i.e., people/organizations that we want to inform) (Everybody)
-- Invite people to join ACEsConnection and the Yolo County group. (Karleen starts with workshop list.)
-- Make a list of who's doing what in trauma-informed practices in Yolo County (Jane)
-- Use these lists to begin educating people all over Yolo County about ACEs research and how people in Yolo County are applying this research (make an outreach plan) (Everybody...next meeting)
-- Assemble useful PowerPoint presentations, tool kits (Everybody)
-- Gather local data (Anna has data on rates of hospitalizations, self-reported depression, suicide rates...Karleen, Shaunda...do you have figures on foster care, juvenile detention, etc?)
-- Post this information in the Yolo County group
-- Meet in a month or so to discuss progress.
