November 3rd, 2018--9am-Noon in Davis; with Catherine LeBlanc, LMFT
Come and get a taste of the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy approach to trauma treatment! This workshop will be a fun, informative, and interactive introduction to this body-oriented talk therapy developed in the 1980s by Pat Ogden. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is based on attachment and neuroscience research, the Hakomi Method of somatic psychotherapy, the Rolf Method of Structural Integration, and the theory of trauma-related structural dissociation of the personality. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy uses bodily experience (rather than the events of the “story”) as the primary entry point in trauma therapy: a highly effective approach, given that trauma is stored in the body.
Goals of this training include acquainting you with the comprehensive power and beauty of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (including watching videos of Pat Ogden in action) and giving you tools you can immediately put into action with your own clients.
