Located in Davis, herSpace offers private sessions and small group interoceptive yoga classes as a healing modality for the treatment of trauma, secondary trauma for caregivers and general well-being for all. A guided meditation and intention setting class is also on the weekly schedule.
The practice of yoga from a trauma-informed perspective, is an empirically validated method of bringing your body into the healing process, to integrate and transcend the effects of trauma.
The concept of interoception can be viewed as addressing whatβs happening inside our bodies at any given moment, or as mindfulness expressed in the body. Through a series of mindful movements, participants will be invited to notice sensation and make choices based on their experience in that moment. Every transition and shape is suggested as an invitation, multiple variations are offered in each yoga form, and there are no physical assists.
In this setting, we invite you to experience yoga on your own terms and explore moving at your own pace. Trauma Sensitive Yoga, through the practice of interoception, is an opportunity to meet your body right where you are.
