UpStander Carnival on October 20 2018 at Davis Central Park 401 C street
At some time, every kid becomes a bystander — someone who witnesses bullying but doesn’t get involved out of fear or lack of knowing what to do.
But that child can be an “Upstander” instead — the person who knows what’s happening is wrong and does something to make things right. It takes courage to speak up on someone’s behalf.
The Davis Phoenix Coalition will host a free Upstander Carnival for pre-K through elementary-aged children from 10am to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Davis Central Park 401 C street. Familiar carnival games will feature an added element of learning to be an “upstander.”
There also will be free prizes, tote-bag giveaways to early arrivers and a bounce house.
We are looking for sponsors that share in the mission of promoting safe and inclusive spaces for all to help as volunteers and to share information about their organization.
