Join the National Research Center on Hispanic Children & Families for a webinar on Thursday, July 9. Representatives from organizations that serve low-income Hispanic families will discuss how they have adapted their service delivery during the pandemic. The COVID-19 crisis poses challenges to the delivery of parent and child education programs, relationship education curricula, mental health services, and other supports families especially need during this time. Hispanic families have been disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, deepening existing social, economic, and health disparities.
Where Intervention Happens: A Routines-Based Approach for Young Children with Disabilities on 7/15

Children learn in their everyday routines, from waking up through bedtime, including during child care. Ensuring that infants and toddlers with disabilities get the most intervention possible and the most relevant intervention possible means building their caregivers' capacity. This webinar will address the assessment of child and family needs, the use of a primary service provider, collaborative consultation, data collection, and how to train people on this routines-based approach. One method to assess children's needs in everyday routines is described in the MEISR Manual, recently published by Brookes Publishing. The webinar is geared at early intervention professionals, as well as educators or caregivers who have or would like to have an early intervention professional working with them.

- An overview of the ACEs Aware online training for providers, ACE Screening Clinical Workflow, and the ACEs and Toxic Stress Risk Assessment Algorithm.

Community-Driven Policy Advocacy: Upholding the Dignity of Immigrant Children and Families on 7/30

What would it look like if our systems and institutions honored the dignity and voice of all Black, indigenous, and children of color and their families? This webinar from Networks of Opportunity for Child Wellbeing explores dignity and beloved community in policy advocacy praxis, specifically within the context of ongoing efforts to protect, uphold, and defend the dignity of immigrant children and families. COVID-19 and heightened attention to structural racism have shed further light on the heavy toll of our nation’s fractured systems, coupled with state-sanctioned violence and intertwined systems of detention and incarceration, on the health, wellbeing, safety, and livelihood of immigrant communities. Learn from advocates across the country who are working to dismantle structural racism not only within the immigration system, but other sectors, institutions, and programs -- from public health and early childhood, to education and legal -- that serve immigrant children and families. Speakers will highlight strategies that local coalitions have led to advocate for legislation and policy change, center community voice, and create supportive networks.
