Davis Community Church will offer a Racial Healing Circle from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, in the church’s Fireside Room, Fourth and C streets in downtown Davis.
A healing circle’s purpose is to reaffirm the humanity of all people, offering a dialogue of what unites everyone rather than what divides, while discovering, respecting and honoring the unique experiences of each person.
A pair of trained racial healing practitioners will facilitate each circle, ensuring that these circles are confidential, safe spaces for all participants. The experience relies on intentional listening for conscious and unconscious biases as participants share stories about race, culture, ethnicity, and class to promote awareness, empathy and healing.
Facilitator Juan Carlos Ruiz is trained by the UC Davis Center for Reducing Health Disparities as a circle keeper. The $30 cost includes dinner.
For more information, contact Ruiz at 530-204-8992 or jcruizguajardo@ucdavis.edu. To register, visit dccpres.org/integrated-spirituality or contact Elisa Stone at elisa@dccpres.org
