April is National Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month. Throughout the month, Yolo County Children's Alliance raises awareness around the critical issue of child abuse and neglect, educates the public on prevention, and fundraises to support our ongoing child abuse prevention programs. The campaign culminates with our largest annual fundraiser, projectPREVENTION.
projectPREVENTION is a fashion show featuring original designs by past Project Runway contestant who will give a ‘real world’ fashion industry experience to 30 local Yolo County youth volunteer models. These teen models get a chance to interact with contemporary leaders in the field, gain professional experience, and learn about design and event production.
This year we’re working with a new Project Runway contestant/designers!
Meet 16 year-oldZachary Fernandez, emerging fashion designer and 3rd Runner Up on Project Runway Junior, 1st Season. We’re very excited to show his latest collection, modeled by local Yolo County teens, at this year’s event. Also joining us this year is local Project Runway alum, Richard Hallmarq!
