York County ACEs and Resilience Connection (SC)

We have a very collaborative community where most of the stakeholders have become aware of ACEs and Resilience. As a result, we are committed to becoming trauma informed, work on resilience and the prevention of ACEs.

Trauma-Informed Early Childhood Initiatives [CTIPP]

CTIPP CAN Call - Trauma-Informed Early Childhood Initiatives - September 15th, 2-3:30pm ET/11am-12:30pm PT -

Please join us for next week's CTIPP CAN Call, which will focus on building mental well-being for infants, toddlers and preschoolers and the adults who care for them.

This month's presentation will feature Drs. Kaitlin Mulcahy and Gerry Costa, and Kelly Crane. The presentation will focus on responding to the needs of our youngest children who have experienced a population-level trauma.

Drs. Mulcahy and Costa will share how New Jersey developed and spread the curriculum Keeping Babies and Children in Mind, as part of ensuring a trauma-informed approach to their state’s recovery from Superstorm Sandy. Kelly will provide insight into policies that can address trauma and build resilience. As the session moderator, Marlo Nash will open the presentation with a preview of a “plug and play” framework that CTIPP is developing to equip state child care administrators, and their stakeholders, with a way to help all of the adults in the child care ecosystem to recognize and respond to trauma as part of recovering from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The main takeaway is that there are approaches states could adopt using American Rescue Plan funds and other public resources that will help reduce the impact of trauma in early care settings and systems as part of the daily flow of life.

  • Drs. Mulcahy and Costa are the Associate Director and Director, respectively, of the Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health out of Montclair State University. They work together to develop and deliver programs and technical assistance that promote infant and early childhood mental health.

  • Kelly Crane is the State Policy Specialist for Prevent Child Abuse America and helps to lead advocacy for prevention efforts that enhance children's mental health.

  • Marlo Nash is a CTIPP Advisor, co-chair of the National Trauma Campaign, and partner with CTIPP Board Member, Suzanne O’Connor, in leading the development of the “plug and play” framework.

Please join us and share the call with those in your network who may be interested!
