Documentary impact producer, Sam Now
What organization(s) do you volunteer or work for?
Sam Now, a new feature documentary film by Reed Harkness. What happens when a boy and his brother go on a road trip in search of their missing mom? Filming on nearly every camera format imaginable over a 25-year period, from hand-developed Super 8 film to Arri 4K, Sam Harkness and his older half brother Reed employ their creative world of fiction filmmaking to dive headfirst into dealing with the issue at hand: Sam’s mom is missing. Sam’s wetsuit and mask wearing alter ego, the Blue Panther, bounds into frame with youthful energy and a heroic spirit of adventure. But can the Blue Panther save the day? Solving the mystery of Sam’s mother’s disappearance is only the beginning of their story. Learn more about Sam Now and watch the trailer on the website.
What is your interest in PACEs and resilience science?
We were invited to join this community and share a bit about the film’s upcoming release in theaters and on PBS this spring. Filmed over 3 decades, Sam Now offers a rare chance to follow the real life story of young brothers as they navigate intergenerational trauma, and pursue healing through creative expression. As the film comes to theaters next month and PBS this May, we are eager to connect with local ACEs initiatives to provide audiences with resources, support and deeper engagement with this movement. If your PACEs community would be interested in learning more about partnership opportunities around Sam Now, we’d love to connect.
If you're part of a community-based PACEs initiative, which one?
