What is it you do for a living? (Parenting, volunteering, CEO of social service organization, etc.)
I am a consultant with over 20 years experience at the private/corporate, nonprofit and government sectors working to change systems that benefit those experiencing inequities in access and outcomes to quality services and positive results. I use community engagement to achieve equity, use modalities such as Art of Hosting/Participatory Leadership, Technology of Participation, Respectful Conversations and Kaleidoscope Dialogue in Faith Communities. I earned a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership focusing on Critical Pedagogy to facilitate agency and empowerment of those of us in the margins of systems that dominate and oppress.
What organization(s) do you volunteer or work for?
African American Registry, We WIN Institute, MN Women's Consortium, Program in Health Disparities Research Advisory Board (UofMN/Medical School), Center for Resilient Families (Board chair), and local efforts on advancing health equity.
What is your interest in PACEs and resilience science?
I was first hired by the state agency where I spent 15 years to manage a national grant to change clinical practices in early childhood social emotional health. The grant introduced a new program at the U of MN on Infant Mental Health, Activated the MN Association for Children's Mental Health to insert an Infant Toddler Mental Health in their yearly Spring Conference, and endorsement of the State of Michigan credentialing of Infant Mental Health Clinicians, community leaders and administrators. Clinics in the pilot introduced co-located services and expanded Medicaid reimbursed to pay for screening using standardized tools such as ASQ:SE and Zero to Three Diagnostic Assessment for children under the age of 5. Minnesota continues to endorse changes initiated 15 years ago.
If you're part of a community-based PACEs initiative, which one?
Yes. I am a certified Coach/Trainer of Presenters in the first cohort in the state of Minnesota. I am a contracted consultant by the Minnesota Communities Caring for Children (MCCC) which coordinates the licensure of ACE Interface.
