What organization(s) do you volunteer or work for?
I have worked for 11 years as art therapist in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric hospitals; 8 years at Villa View Community Medical Center which changed to University Community Medical Center and Promise Hospital. Then I was at Alvarado Parkway Institute for 3 years, all in San Diego.
What is your interest in PACEs and resilience science?
I have seen the ACE concepts in my work with psychiatric patients and I want to work with others in prevention and early intervention using art therapy. Many ACE issues appear in patient's art work. I want to help to prevent the ongoing violence that is happening in America. As you know we have mass shootings or murder suicide constantly. I want to start a violence prevention program in San Diego. I really appreciate the work the ACE pioneers have done in giving such concrete understanding.
