What is your interest in PACEs and resilience science?
At the above centre I work with people who genearlly score very high on the ACE's questionnaire. From 2005 to 2016 I worked as a counsellor in a Criminal Justice Drug Intervention Program set up to deliver community based sentences to prolific offenders with substance misuse and addictions. My interest goes further as I myself score very high on the questionnaire also. I have learned a lot through getting to know my client's, reading and listening to people like Gabor Mate'. Although I am getting closer to retirment I don't think that will be something I will take for some years yet, as I love the work I do and the people I work with.
If you're part of a community-based PACEs initiative, which one?
Not offically. However, the charity I work with does attract mostly people who because of their traumatic childhoods slip through the net of the IAPT system run by the NHS here in the uk. we tend to refer to our method of working with people as 'working at relational depth'. The therapy agreements we make with client's are open ended, meaning they come for as long as they and their therapist beleive they need to.
