New Hope Community Development of Acadiana provides mentors for under-resourced children that live in the Azalea Park neighborhood in Lafayette.
What is your interest in PACEs and resilience science?
Most if not all the students we work with suffer from ACEs. When we first started our program, we saw large academic gaps and behaviors that surprised us. As we researched child poverty, we came across the idea of "toxic stress" and ACEs. Since our discovery, we have changed how we provide services for the children we work with and how we train our volunteers.
