What is your interest in PACEs and resilience science?

To wholistically succor rehumanization and resilience of the world’s most vulnerable populations has always been of great interest to me. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, I developed this interest by volunteering as a first responder for wildfire evacuees, honing my horsemanship training skills to aid the rescue and rehabilitation of abused horses, and conducting extensive research in organizational development support for fundraising and donor care management efforts. In my current role as a patient services specialist, I now advocate for the needs and vulnerabilities of demographically diverse patients and physical therapists as a first point-of-contact and liaison in the interdisciplinary, patient-physician relationship. Although I have accomplished much, I have struggled to find opportunities that allow me to advocate for populations that I long to serve. My long-term career goal is to advocate for every child’s right to a standard of living adequate for health, well-being, and overall development. I desire to pursue public health-related career paths that implement trauma-informed advocacy for the health and well-being of at-risk children. I long to learn how to utilize analytical tools to identify the impact of high parental stress, low emotional availability scales, and adverse childhood experiences on parent-child interaction and pediatric patient outcomes. To learn how to effectively measure child protection policies and interventions against modern slavery, human trafficking, and the like is also of interest. To say the least, to be actively involved in the PACEs Connection movement helps me to pursue my vocational dreams but, most importantly, be surrounded and inspired by a community of leaders in this field who are making a positive difference in their realms of influence every day. As a humble member of this community, I only hope to glean from others' wisdom and contribute to the impactful work that is already being done by doing good better.

If you're part of a community-based PACEs initiative, which one?
