What is it you do for a living? (Parenting, volunteering, CEO of social service organization, etc.)

Currently I am parenting my two young children and volunteering in the community, am looking for the right organizational fit for future employment, and am offering consulting work on trauma-informed, culturally-responsive systems change, domestic and sexual violence, training, facilitation, research, and integration of arts and marketing into public health and social service work. Most recently, I spent 4 years as the Director of the Alaska Resilience Initiative (www.akresilience.org), building it up, creating curriculum, passing policy, and more. Prior to that, I worked in the Alaska Tribal Health System on DV/SV and ACEs issues (http://anthctoday.org/epicenter/healthyfamilies.html) and I've worked as a rape victim advocate, prenatal tobacco cessation counselor, community-based researcher, 3rd grade teacher, and Spanish language interpreter.

What organization(s) do you volunteer or work for?

I am a Leader/Participant in cohort 4 of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Leaders program. Work: Currently self-employed (Laura Norton-Cruz Consulting) and looking for the right fit. Volunteer: Growing Alaskan Leaders, a grassroots activist group of parents and caregivers. Board of Directors for Hillcrest Children's Center. Board of Advisors for the National Roundtable on Native American Trauma-Informed Initiatives. Advisory Committee for Anchorage Community Mental Health Services and the Alaska Child Maltreatment Conference Planning.

What is your interest in PACEs and resilience science?

I believe that childhood, intergenerational, and systemic trauma is at the core of many of our social problems, and that it will take efforts at all level of the social ecology to prevent and heal from trauma, and to build a just, vibrant, and resilient environment for children and families.

If you're part of a community-based PACEs initiative, which one?
