What is it you do for a living? (Parenting, volunteering, CEO of social service organization, etc.)
Social work gerontologist, trauma educator, mentor, consultant
What organization(s) do you volunteer or work for?
Lisa Kendall Consulting LLC
I recently retired from clinical work where I specialized in trauma and am focused on my online teaching and consulting. I have spoken at international conferences about the impact of trauma across the lifespan and focus on trauma-informed aging and Elder care.
What is your interest in PACEs and resilience science?
The ACE study helped all my clinical work make sense when I discovered it in 2010. I worked with people living with chronic health issues and those struggling with caregiving due to childhood abuse or neglect, as well as complicated grief and trauma. I have promoted ACES and studied the healing modalities offered by new discoveries in interpersonal neurobiology ever since, but my roots go back to my own childhood trauma and professional work with the relaxation response in 1980's. My commitment at this stage of my life is to mentor professionals in the area of trauma-informed and person-directed aging & elder care.
If you're part of a community-based PACEs initiative, which one?
Prior to relocating to my native Pennsylvania, I was active with colleagues interested in promoting trauma informed care in Ithaca, NY.
