Dr. Luana Rodriguez is a Certified Nurse-Midwife with 30+ years experience in both the public, private and federal sectors. She is actively engaged in culturally-sensitive and trauma-informed care practices to support the resilience of diverse groups affected by societal oppression and trauma, with a special interest in Women and children’s health issues. Luana is an active member of the Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) Consortium and ACE-Certified Trainer. She has also collaborated and done work with the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence (ACESDV), the Southwest Indigenous Women’s Coalition (SWIWC) and the TRUST organization (Training and Resources United to Stop Trafficking).
Dr. Rodriguez has been certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) to provide guidance for clinicians and community partners in translating the ACEs foundational research into trauma-sensitive practice. She feels strongly about the research on ACEs, trauma and the impact on short and long-term physical and mental health. There is a vital need to understand the scientific evidence of ACEs, Neuroscience and Epigenetics and bring forth awareness to families, local and global communities. The goal is to help destigmatize the effects of trauma, support mental health and empower those affected by promoting personal sovereignty, supporting resilience and breaking the cycle of transgenerational trauma which can adversely change the life course of our future generations.
