What is your interest in PACEs and resilience science?

I have started an intiative in Marin County, Resilient Marin. Our core group or steering committee is in it's early stages of building a county-wide movement: TIC in schools and other care systems in Marin. Our vision is a trauma-informed Marin that focuses on the most vulnerable youth, those who typically are under the system's radar. My vision is to change outdated systems that suppress and traumatize; instead our communities need systems that are restorative; this is true for most care systems. incl schools; those need to shift from punishing to trauma-informed discipline: one that is based in brain science, co-regulation strategies and that addresses the whole child. Since my 25-y-old son Alex passed from fentanyl poisoning in April 2020 after years of addiction to Xanax due to struggle with anxiety from accumulative trauma and ACE’s, I want to become part of a movement that envisions and builds strong resilience and prevention care systems. Everyone needs to become trauma-informed so that we can prevent retraumatization and build compassionate communities with strong understanding and knowledge about the source of our public health crisis. Resilient Marin welcomes other members who are aligned with our vision. It takes a village. Please visit our website www.resilientmarin.org as well as my website www.alex4hope.org. Both sites are aligned with PACEs approach to trauma.

If you're part of a community-based PACEs initiative, which one?
