What is it you do for a living? (Parenting, volunteering, CEO of social service organization, etc.)
Drugs and Alcohol Young Person and Family Team Leader. I lead a small team supporting kids to reduce or abstain from drugs, get back on the straight and narrow, build resilience, connect. We support families and carers to access group support, 121, counselling and community.
What organization(s) do you volunteer or work for?
Addaction. We are a UK charity funded in the main by local authorities and grants. We work in many areas - youth, adults, families, criminal justice, mental health, education etc ...
What is your interest in PACEs and resilience science?
Owning ACEs and being given the opportunity to be heard helps. Period. I have survived my own traumatic childhood experiences and still see the effect of toxic stress within me. I may not be the cure for people with ACEs but I certainly can be part of the solution. I became aware of ACEs last year through work.
