What is it you do for a living? (Parenting, volunteering, CEO of social service organization, etc.)

Former School counselor professionally; 2nd degree Reiki Practitioner; recently moved to SW Florida--seeking career options.

What organization(s) do you volunteer or work for?

I did work for Trumbull Career and Technical Center, Trumbull county’s career center where the 20 school district’s 11th and 12th graders can choose to attend for career and technical skill training. On average 930 to 1100 students attend each year.

What is your interest in PACEs and resilience science?

I first learned about ACES a few years ago while taking a class with a trauma focus. Boy did it click with me because of family member experiences, my personal experiences, and experiences of students I’ve taught and counseled. Being trauma informed is so important. Both professionally and personally, I want to help educate my peers, provide effective help to students and just support people when I’m able. I have experienced trauma at different times in my life ranging from childhood to my 5th decade of life. Trauma has taken the normal out of typical days, weeks, and longer durations of time for me. I get that it’s a real struggle. But I also get that it’s possible to get to the other side and thrive because I’m doing it! I am also a practitioner and proponent of mindfulness and yoga, believing these tools aid in healing trauma and strengthening resilience. positive energy is a must🌞

If you're part of a community-based PACEs initiative, which one?

Trumbull County, which is on its way to be up and running, thanks to others before me! I’ve only learned about ACEs Connection in January, 2019.
