What is your interest in PACEs and resilience science?
It has been said that what we don't transform we transmit. The seminal ACES study has allowed us to see how trauma not only impacts the social and economic outcome for an individual, it also allows us to consider the impact for entire communities. My interest in ACES informs my hope to see a paradigm shift, in this country, toward more trauma-informed policies that acknowledge the impact of trauma, including historical trauma, in the lives of many and the initiation of policies that can truly stem the intergenerational transmission of trauma and its deleterious social, economic, psychological, and physiological consequences.
