What is it you do for a living? (Parenting, volunteering, CEO of social service organization, etc.)
I am a school psychologist (39 year education veteran), public speaker, and author. I am on a mission to save lives by preventing overdoses.
What organization(s) do you volunteer or work for?
I work PT for Cartwright School District as a school psychologist. Additionally, I am MOO-Mothers Opposing Opioids. This is my business name for my addiction prevention work.
What is your interest in PACEs and resilience science?
My older son died 5 years ago of a heroin overdose. Being a school psychologist, being very close to Tyler, and having helped countless children and families, it was excruciatingly difficult to watch my son self-destruct over a period of his 10 year addiction prior to his death. I'm interested in ACES because I'm a psychologist and want to know all that I can to help children but also to try to understand what happened to my son.
If you're part of a community-based PACEs initiative, which one?
Tempe Coalition, Tempe AZ
