I can really relate on how this young man spoke of how he was always afraid of the next test. That he would fail and would let himself down. I always had the same feelings though not technically a foster kid (only because Michigan couldn't find a place quick enough and they told me because I was 17  - I would have to become an emancipated minor instead) that made it real hard because I went to a little college in the UP on full ride without filling out the FAFSA why you ask?  Because my parents refused to do their portion which this also became a huge problem and a lot of letters had to be written for medical school exactly for the same reason even though mom and dad were on welfare.  But what I am saying is you feel like you HAVE TO BE COMPLETELY PERFECT. I thought for sure I had to get an A on everything or they would just yank my school funding and I would end up homeless (as I had been for a while in high school).  Things really need a change.  We need to invest in young children and we cannot forget the teens either!!!
