Sad but true. I grew up really poor but when I was in medical school, we had kids from Benton and they were talking about the bars on their school doors. Now I had never seen this... And when I went to Indianapolis for residency, it was the first time I saw bars on gas stations.... I was pretty shocked.... This should not be.... Something must be done..... Kids going to school with bars on the doors and windows.... That just is not capable of promoting anything but psychological trauma.... So what good is the school when you cannot learn in a state of fear... We are state functioning creatures... We need calm for learning and creativity..... Hum????
