When I worked at our State Hospital, on the only "Patient-Governed ward", we had a Puppy [whose "treatment plan was on the wall above the newspapers on the floor which the puppy used to relieve himself]... I never heard the phrase "mammalian attachment" until recently, but the puppy's impact, back then (1980-81) was favorably noted by the [national health corps] Family Physician assigned to our ward in lieu of a psychiatrist, along with most, if not all, the "patients" who helped him with his treatment plan.
