In this animated video, meet “Dr. Cruz,” who shares what she has learned about caring for patients with exposure to ACEs, including abuse, neglect, and violence. https://www.traumainformedcare.chcs.org/
Nicely done! A text version of the message is in this rather poetic response of a former patient to my request that she write an article for a medical journal about her non-experience of doctors trying to learn about her developmental life experiences.
What a wonderful article/letter! I wish this healing for all who are screened and treated by our health center. While optimistic, I beleive our techniques and interactions have a ways to go. However, it is tidbits like this that give me hope that we can begin to change the trajectory. Thank you for sharing Dr. Felitti.
After the heartbreak, the frustration, the guilt and the shame at the way children are "treated" (by all of us) in a "developed" country, the letter silently but overpoweringly demands action... by all of us.
