A few years ago, I read a Law Review article, written by a Judge from [if my recollection is correct] Connecticut, noting the United States is the only "Industrial Democracy" which does not incorporate Children's Rights in our National Constitution. I don't know if our U.S. Senate has ratified our signing on as a signatory to the United Nations Convention on Children's Rights, yet.
I've heard, but not verified, that Iceland has the lowest incidence of Child Abuse/Neglect in the world. Perhaps we might learn something from our neighbors there, if this is in fact true. I would certainly be curious if any other nations have conducted a similar CDC/Kaiser-Permanente ACE study, or its' sequel studies such as the 6,000+ person ACE sequel study in Texas-of folks with AND without Health Insurance, which was reported in the April 2010 Preventing Chronic Disease journal, or the current ACE study of Elderly Public Housing tenants in the New York Capitol (Albany) area, or the recently completed Wisconsin ACE study of Children. I haven't checked for "ACE-similar studies" at the World Health Organization, but if anyone is familiar with any such information, I'd be grateful to learn of it. Thank You.
