Hi,Â
After having translated the NCTSN-curriculum 'caring for traumatized children, a workshop for resource parents', we are now looking for a good curriculum for school teachers. Any tips or help is welcome!
Thanks, Leony

Hi Leony,
You may want to take a look at the responses on this recent thread:
We, also, have a page on Evidence-based Programs:

You could use our book "supporting and educating traumatized students" oxford university press.

We have taught several online classes and integrated this material into professional development offerings in a very large school system.

Dear Susan,
That would be great if you could send me one. You can send it to:

Thanks!
I'll mail it out today. I've given many workshops to teachers, school staff on trauma and its effects on learing. I'm very interested in the topic and would be happy to help you with the curriculum you are developing.
Regards.
Susan
That is really good to hear! We have given some workshops for teachers and  many for parents and health care professionals but we haven'd developed the wright curriculum yet for teachers. By coincidence I received the first formal question of a school today for a workshop on traumatized children in the classroom. My e-mailadress is L.Coppens@casema.nl.Â
That would be great too!
Thanks!

Hi Leony-
You may find my book "Reaching and Teaching Children Who Hurt: Strategies for Your Classroom" a good overview of a curriculum for teachers. I am happy to send you a copy if you email me your contact information.

Hi Leony,
In case the replies below don't mention them, the Trauma & Learning Policy Institute in Massachusetts is doing amazing work! They have a (free) PDF of their first handbook on trauma-informed schools. They'll be coming out with a second soon. Here's the link: http://www.massadvocates.org/download-book.php
Thanks,
Jeanie
Thanks a lot!
Forgot to point out earlier that we have an Education section in our Resource Center.
Susan,
the Chicago Y is looking at integrating trauma informed care into their programming, would you be able to provide some information about your book so we could take a look at it? Karen Rowan, YMCA Metro Chicago, 801 North Dearborn, Chicago 60610. thanks so much
Â
thank you so much! I can give you a call next week, leaving for a conference tomorrow morning.
Hi Karen-
I'd be happy to send you a copy of my book. Just as an FYI, I did some work with the Army Child Care System for their afterschool programs. I'd love to talk to you about that.
Â
I'll get a book out to you this week.

Susan
We use Susan's book in our educating traumatized students graduate class and the teachers all think it is extremely valuable and they get a lot out of it.
Â
I would highly recommend it
