Does anyone know of a study to determine the ACE histories of detained and/or incarcerated juveniles and/or adults?

As far as I know the first big ACE study done by Kaiser and some partners did not include that demographic. But we need to see if anyone is on this now. I'd love to help. Let me know what I can do.
There are some specific groups where ACEs has been applied. One that stands out is "Adverse Childhood Experiences in the Lives of Male Sex Offenders: Implications for Trauma Informed Care," by Levenson, Willis, and Prescott (http://sax.sagepub.com/content.../27/1079063214535819).
Another is by Reavis, Looman, Franco, and Rohas, "Adverse Childhood Experiences and Adult Criminality: How Long Must We Live before We Possess Our Own Lives?" (http://dx.doi.org/10.7812/TPP/12-072 - Permanente Journal, Spring 2013).
I do not know of more comprehensive or longitudinal studies on offender groups. The two articles listed do show that criminal justice approaches should take into consideration trauma-informed care based on the experiences of the criminal justice population.
Hi, Lisa: Florida is all over this. Check out this story:

Michael Baglivio and Nathan Epps would be the people to give you more information.

You might find the attached study of some interest -- results pretty much what you might expect, if you know the broader literature, not if you remain stuck to the older stereotypes.
Don't know who best to contact to follow up -- perhaps the School directly -- the senior author, Smallbone, retired last year.

Do a Google Scholar search and you'll find more recent papers they've produced.

Lisa,
Attached is a list of all the studies we've done on ACEs and juvenile delinquency here in Florida. I can forward them to you as PDF files if you don't have access to the journals

Wow - thank you, Nathan! I don't have access to the journals so would greatly appreciate you sending me the PDF files. My email is lisaf@breakingthecycles.com.
Please share Lisa when you get that! amazing work.
Hi Lisa,
Here is a webinar where I interviewed Dr. George Davis, the principle researcher on the NM juvenile Justice population.

ACEs / trauma + juvenile justice is at the center of my work, if you (or anyone else interested) wants to be in touch!
In particular I research gender disparities in the juvenile justice system, including the higher rates of trauma & assault histories among girls...and how arts-based programs may improve resilience & help effect policy change. (More on what I do here.)
Below are a few links that may help (& Baglivio was mentioned above; a solid resource!).
The Prevalence of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) in the Lives of Juvenile Offenders: (FL; Baglivio et al, 2014)

Trauma histories among justice-involved youth: findings from the National Child Traumatic Stress Network: (2013)

Trauma among Girls in the Juvenile Justice System: (report, 2014)

And these two are focused on girls, offering a great deal of insight. (The first include Baglivio's 2014 work as an ACEs reference).

Thanks so much for this, Tasha, and my apologies for this LATE reply (I'm in the throws of moving and it's taking most of my time). I plan to really delve into the research everyone has shared in January and will definitely reach out to you, then.
