Hi everyone,
Resilient Sacramento is considering ways to grow our work and one thing that's come up is, connecting with an umbrella organization.
Does anyone have any experience or tips to share, things to look out for, pros and cons?
We are at the very beginning stages of just talking about it, so anything anyone can share would really help our conversation along.

Hi, Donielle -- What do you mean by an umbrella organization? One that leads the effort? Or one that can receive funding for the initiative? Or something else/both?
Hi Jane! What we've talked about so far, is that this umbrella org would be a fiscal agent, supportive of our mission but not leading our work.
The idea is to provide infrastructure so that we'd have simple things like access to space; and more complicated things like the ability to receive grants.

Hi Donielle several of the Mobilizing Action for Resilient Communities work with an organization that has served as their fiscal agent for the ACE network/collaborative which sounds like what you are looking for, rather than as a backbone organization. We would be happy to link you with some of these communities. There are definitely pros and cons they can share.

Our Children's Resilience Initiative here in Walla Walla, WA has a non-profit to manage our funding, but Teri Barila is our champion leading the movement in our community. She may be able to help provide some meaningful feedback to support your journey.
