How did you get started in this direction, how did you find sponsors, and can I help by starting on in my community?

Hello Toni -
Great question!
First, you donβt have to start a nonprofit. A group of nonprofit and for-profit, educational, governmental, judicial, medical and other types of organizations may come together to form an entity to prevent and heal childhood trauma and look for ways to build individual, family, and community resilience (which will help, over the long-run, with prevention).
Weβve created guides to help members start and grow communities.
Look at at the column of βwidgetsβ on the right-hand side of the home page of PACEs Connection and youβll see βGrowing Resilient Communitiesβ widget. Just click on it to find posts and resources on βStarting Resilient Communitiesβ and βGrowing Resilient Communities.β
Check those out! You may also write our staff members whoβre available to guide you at communitysupport@pacesconnection.com and someone from our team will respond within 48 hours.
If youβd like to check them out.
Hope to see soon that youβve helped start a new community.
Peace!
Carey Sipp, PACEs Connection staff
Thank you Carey for responding. Ok, then my next question would be; do you know if Cowlitz County specifically Kelso/Longview Washington has a program already in order through your network or any other network and how can I find out if we do? I am doing a school project focused on ending childhood trauma and I would love to get involved. I will read the material you suggested but I still have urgent questions, I meet with my team tomorrow and wanted to be able to discuss what I have learned about our community.
Thank you,
Toni Vossen
@Karen Clemmer Do you know if there's activity happening in this region of Washington state?
Hi @Toni Vossen, Thanks for reaching out! There are several PACEs Connection communities across the state of Washington. When you are on the PACEs Connection home page, and look at the search bar across the top of the page, Click on "communities" then selected "United States" communities - this is where all PACEs Connection communities are listed by state. www.pacesconnection.com/pages/geographic-communities We do not have a community in Kelso / Longview but we do have folks with a strong interest in child abuse prevention. Specifically, check out www.pacesconnection.com/g/tacoma-pierce-county-aces-connection and reach out to the Community Manager, Mellissa! She is amazing! If you'd like to have a phone or Zoom conversation please email our team at communitysupport@pacesconnection.com Thanks again for reaching out! Karen
