Anyone knows of any good resource material on either the topics of bullying or teen suicide?

Good website on bullying prevention and response.
Here is a link to our Bullying Prevention Resource Guide at the Colorado School Safety Resource Center. Hope you find it helpful. Good luck in your efforts!
In my view the world's deepest thinker on bullying is the developmental psychologist Gordon Neufeld (www.gordonneufeld.com). He sees bullying not as a behavioral or moral problem, but as one arising from disturbed attachments--of both bully and victim. His DVD on the subject may be purchased here: http://neufeldinstitute.org/category/dvds/ A free YouTube lecture may be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7mznfMI1T4
(disclosure: I'm the co-author with Gordon of the book Hold On To Your Kids: Why Parents Need to Matter More Than Peers, which contains a chapter on bullying)
Hello Vanessa, We at Winged Hope Family Advocacy Foundation offer trainings around the state of Arizona on these subjects. But you can find our tip sheets, (please download to see front and back) they are full or resources that can be used nationally. http://www.wingedhope.org/tip-sheets
I hope these help!
Thankful,
Jessica
Hi, Vanessa: You can also try doing a search for bullying on the ACEs in Education group.
Thanks. Will do
Hi, Vanessa: Here's one more resource: The Bullying Antidote, and a blog post about it: https://www.pacesconnection.com/...g-s-troubled-history
Hi Vanessa, here's another resource. These slides reference estimates of the costs of bullying -- costs to schools, school districts, families and kids. These estimates are an attempt to quantify taxpayer costs, and costs to a child who is either a bully, or who is bullied.
Hello Vanessa,
The very first comprehensive book on youth suicide was published in 1985. Itâs a summation of all the research from 1900-1980. Interestingly, some recently published papers only review the research back to the early 1990âs.
The authors (senior staff at Los Angeles Suicide Prevention Center) suggest that the same stressors that create suicidal behavior can also create bullying behavior.
Some people react by hurting others and some react by hurting themselves to avoid hurting other people.
They also suggest that when a child attempts suicide, they have fundamentally "lost their commitment to the future". It's extremely hard to re-establish that commitment, even with all the benefits provided by the current ACEs movement.
One of the suggestions from that book that really works is to clearly and sincerely tell a person in crisis that "There is no future in suicide, you are a valued member of the community, and we have lots of work to do tomorrowâ (like caring for the children, pets, or whatever is truly important to them like a peaceful sunrise or sunset).
My friend is still alive today because when she was in crisis and I said those things to her, it helped stop that circular logic that keeps going back to suicide as a viable option to actually resolve the real problems in her life.
I saw the spinning stop, right there in her 'good eye'. It was absolutely amazing.
Suicide doesnât solve any of the real problems in life, it just stops the personâs time on earth and creates a host of different problems for those left behind. The cycle is self-perpetuating.
