I like this topic, being an older adult with score of 9 on the ACEsQ, and having, I believe, Parkinson's Disease partly due to early childhood stress / later stress.

I've actually been putting off writing about this on  my website -- too much to do! But there is beginning to appear more and more research, and "clinical" practice, showing the contribution of such factors (including PTSD) to the etiology of neurodegenerative disorders. Of course, the research (limited though it may be) showing the continuation of attachment difficulties into later years -- even into dementia -- has been around a little longer, so I wish you well in your activities and I've marked this post a Follow.

Hi Sarah, This is an important topic! Informing healthcare professionals about the impact of ACEs on an aging population (myself included!) has the potential to be a powerful and transformative! I love that you are seeking information for social workers - they are the best! Looking around here are a couple items I found - this is what Jane wrote (2012): ACEs Connection ACEs and Aging.  These resources for Aging Adults Trauma Toolkit Aging Populations might be useful too. Please loop back around and let us know what you've discovered! Learning together is what ACEs Connection is all about! Karen
